Since our founding, the Canadian Alliance of British Pensioners (CABP) has been at the forefront of the campaign to end frozen pensions, combining evidence, advocacy, and real-life stories to push for change.

Our Work To Date

We are currently asking MPs and Senators/Peers in Canada, Australia and the UK to join with us and add their names to our Joint Parliamentarian letter which will be presented to the British Prime Minister, asking for the Labour government to bring an end to freezing British pensions.

A drop-in session for MPs and Senators was held in Ottawa, Canada in November, 2025, to encourage support for our letter and campaign. A similar drop-in session was held in London, UK, in April 2026. More information can be obtained from our office: info@britishpensions.com

2026 Campaign

Highlighting the Human Impact

We collect and share stories from UK pensioners living in Canada to show how frozen pensions affect daily life, from struggling with rising costs to losing decades of purchasing power. These personal accounts bring the issue to life for policymakers and the public alike.

Story Highlight

Anne Puckridge

At 99 years old, Anne Puckridge is at the heart of the Frozen Pensions scandal affecting half a million British pensioners worldwide. A veteran of World War Two, she served in the Indian Army, Airforce and the Navy, and the Armed Forces before spending her working life in the UK. But since moving to Canada in 2001, aged 76, to be closer to her daughter, Anne has been denied the annual increases to her UK state pension.

Today, instead of receiving the full £169.50 per week Basic State Pension, she survives on just £72.50, the same rate she was paid when she left the UK nearly 25 years ago. In that time, she has lost more than £50,000 in income. Like most affected pensioners, she was never told her pension would be frozen when she moved abroad.

Days before her 100th birthday, Anne travelled 4,400 miles back to Britain with one purpose: to demand a meeting with the Prime Minister. She said she made the journey on behalf of nearly half a million British pensioners overseas who are suffering under the same policy.

Her campaign has gained momentum and secured a lot of press coverage including television coverage with BBC, ITV. A petition launched in her name secured more than 125,000 signatures. Over 50 MPs have expressed support, the issue has been raised in Parliament, and public figures such as Dame Joanna Lumley have joined the cause. Anne’s call to the Prime Minister was simple: to meet her with courtesy, acknowledge her wartime service, and confront the injustice of frozen pensions.

Driving Parliamentary Action

CABP works to explain how the issue can be resolved, advocating for specific actions in the UK Parliament. We provide rebuttals to the UK government’s longstanding reasons for not uprating pensions for some overseas pensioners, demonstrating why these justifications no longer hold. We are currently working with UK MPs to challenge the parliamentary procedures on secondary legislation where our pensions get ‘frozen’ each year after the annual budget approves the uprating of all British pensions.

Putting the Cost in Context

We also highlight that the cost of fixing frozen pensions is minimal compared to the overall UK pension budget, making a strong financial as well as moral case for reform.

Sharing Our Work

Our submissions, reports, and evidence to Parliament are publicly available and demonstrate our ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability.

Through research, advocacy, and storytelling, End Frozen Pensions Canada continues to keep the frozen pensions issue in the spotlight, showing both governments that change is not only possible — it is overdue.

“My membership to CABP is the best value, period. The team at CABP showed me how to increase my UK pension while paying Class 2 Contributions. Likewise, I was able to help another CABP member to receive a pension of $7k. I never cease to be amazed that despite the number of times we have been knocked down, the CABP team continues on with grit and determination. This is more than praiseworthy to say the least, and is an example to all. Many thanks to the CABP team.”
